I downloaded gSender 1.5.5 today. When I tried to install it crashes my Win 11 x64 without any warning or blue screen. I tried 3 times and they all crashed. I even tried re-downloading and it still crashes. My system has all the latest updates.
Anyone else having this problem or have any ideas? I tried reinstalling my current version 1.5.3, which worked fine before, and it now crashes my system as well in the approximate same spot.
PS - This is on my design computer only. My CNC computer is still Win 10 x64. I haven’t tried 1.5.5 on it yet and won’t until this problem is solved.
@Heyward43 I installed it on my win 10 x64 machine a couple of days ago to see if the issue that I had with 1.5.3 was resolved. It was not.
Like you, I have only tried to install it on my test machine- the one that I have the Uno plugged into. (Thanks to you.) It took 3 attempts to install it. On the first 2, the install progress bar got about half way, then stalled. The only way out was task manager to close it. On the 3rd time, it got to the same place and stalled. I walked away for an hour and when I came back, it was installed.
I have not and will not try it on my “production” machine running the SLB. I am still running 1.4.12 on it and that version does all that I need.
i installed 1.5.5 too on 2 different pc’s , home pc went smooth and fast, cnc pc was long and slow, slow to the point i really got bored and wanted to quit and restart, but i waited and finished eventually
both pc’s win 11 24h2
Thanks guys for the responses. I wish mine would do the same leaving it running. But, NO, mine has to crash. Maybe the folks at Sienci will chime in. In the mean time I will be making sure I have all the latest updates.
@Heyward43 Are you saying your entire OS crashes when trying to update, or the gSender installation/update itself? What happens exactly? Your PC just shuts down with no warning or anything?
Hi Walid, thanks for the contact. My PC just crashes about halfway into the update. No blue screen or warning. Have to power down/up or reset to restart. Have tried downloading twice and same issue.
That is interesting, we haven’t got any report of gSender causing the entire operating system on a PC to crash ever, so this is a first. There must be something going on with the computer itself, since you tried to revert to a stable version of gSender (1.5.3) and still run into the same problem.
I’d suggest the following:
Update Windows to the latest version
Install any outstanding Windows security patches
Check to see if you are running out of storage on your hard drive (this has happened to me before and causes program installation problems)
And maybe try to monitor the CPU and memory activity on the PC to see if there’s anything off there
Wish I could be of more help, but try these few things out and see if any of them help. Hopefully, they do
@walid_kayhan@Chucky_ott Good news! I have no idea how but I tried to install 1.5.5 today and low and behold it installed. No rhyme or reason it installed correctly this time. I have had no Windows updates recently and have done nothing else to solve the problem. So I am obviously happy I now have 1.5.5 installed and working. Thank you both for your input and suggestions.
