AltMill Set up - Swapping SLB to right side?

New AltMill arriving within a couple weeks replacing OneFinity X-50. Given the layout of my shop area setting up my AltMill would be more functional with the controller mounted on the right side of the base as opposed to the left side as designed. Is this a possibility? It seems like the Y drag chain needs to run on the left Y rail so as to match up with the X motor. I suspect mounting the controller on the right side would require extension cables to reach from the controller to the drag chain on the left rail. Given the design of the X and Y cables this seems like a pretty complicated thing and I don’t see extension cables offered in the parts and accessories store page.

@martindg I can’t answer your specific question but my SLB is mounted at the front-left. That might be a good compromise for you.

Thanks. Yeah, front left is my fall back if I can’t get it to the right side

I want to do the same thing. I did so with my Longmill but it seems that perhaps it’s not as doable with the Altmill 2x4? If anyone has tried I’d like to know!

It seems that moving the drag chain and wiring to the right Y rail would be doable in terms of the Y axis wiring. Moving the X and the Z axis wiring to the right Y rail would be problematic. In looking at the X axis gantry on the OnShape model they provide it seems as though the gantry is for the most part symmetrical and conceivably could be reversed such that the X motor and associated wiring is on the right side of the machine. However, not too sure I’m brave enough to try it without the blessing of the Sienci engineers. Would be nice to have one of them chime in and give an answer about whether this woudl be possible.

Yeah played around a bit more with the OnShape model and it seems that the X axis motor has to stay on the left gantry plate so moving the drag chain from the left to the right Y rail is likely a non-starter. So, fallback plan it is.
