Do I square up the center line with one of the axis, and then secure the piece?

@dehoutwinkel I, for one, don’t understand the question. What inlays? Did you cut this from a larger piece? How did you set your zeroes when you cut it?

Sorry for the confusion. The shaded shapes that run down the center would be the inlays I need to cut. Im just unsure of how I would square or zero this to get them cut exactly as drawn.

I’ve already wrote the cad/cam in Fusion. Hope this helps 😬

@dehoutwinkel No worries. I can’t see the areas to be carved out very well, so I did not understand.

I’ve moved your question to the Fusion350 category as I believe that it will get more attention there.

I have a fair idea how to do this in VCarvePro. I have absolutely no idea how to do it in Fusion. No offence, but ideally you would not have removed it from the CNC. 🙂

You could use a scrap piece of MDF or plywood to cut a nest, into which you could set the guitar body. That would ensure perfect alignment, and prevent any lateral motion.

You could then add a bit of additional clamping to keep the piece from jumping out of the nest.

That make sense?

Hey thanks I appreciate your help.

Yeah I cut this the guitar shape a few weeks, and planned on doing the inlays by hand. But then thought about using the cnc for them.

Yup that all makes sense, and its usually how I cut other stuff. Im just worried about the centerline being off when I attempt to cut them.

If your nest and your inlays use the same origin (and if you haven’t removed the nest from the table) you should be exactly in alignment.
