I have an Altmill 4x4 and a gControl computer connected via ethernet.
I use Fusion (free version) as a CAM setup. The free version only allows a single tool path to be post-processed. Most setups require multiple paths. I load a file (double click on the file name), everything works as expected and I run the job. Nothing wrong so far.
My problem happens when I try to load the next job (sometimes job 2 loads fine but job three doesn’t). I double click on the new file name and the file selector window no longer responds. I end up having to close the file selector window, windows tells me it is contacting Microsoft but, because the computer is isolated, it can’t and I have to wait for a time-out.
It turns out that if I double click on the file name, it appears frozen, if I wait a bit, the file selection process completes and I can carry on. With coming from a paid version of fusion where any number of tool paths (same tool) can be combined, this requirement of loading each tool path individually becomes a major issue when things freeze.
I haven’t tried to narrow things down yet but I am wondering if anybody else has run into this problem.
It would appear (my initial guess) that the gControl computer or gSender is doing something that has to complete before things start responding again.
`
I just ran another job, 4 tool paths … and no issue.
I will write the whole thing off to gremlins although I have had related issues with gSender before where everything stopped for maybe 30 seconds until gSender starts to respond again.
Because of the intermittent nature of this issue, there is basically no chance of narrowing things down. I am currently on 1.5.3 so maybe when I do my next upgrade, the issue will go away (can’t hurt to hope)
