Too funny! I retired from there 5 years ago. Iām absolutely sure you would not recognize the place now! Thanks! Looking forward to my Altmill getting here!
Thanksā¦because all I ever have is stupid questions. But, with that said, Iām pretty good at using the search function prior to asking!
Kerrville, Texas anyone out there close?
Well, itās Texas so close is relative. Iām in Arlington about 5 hours away.

@Taz Welcome to the group, Taz. Donāt hesitate to ask questions and seek advice. Further along, be sure to post your projects.
Thanks! Still trying to get the table surfaced. Ran into the 1.5.5 bug in the surfacing function. Think I have a path forward, but open to suggestions!
@Taz What CAD/CAM application are you using? If Vectric, simply do a pocket toolpath, making the pocket the size of your spoilboard and the depth of cut whatever you want to take off.
I assume that it would be the same process in other applications, but this is the only one that I am familiar with.
I started in AutoDesk/Fusion360. Iāll check out Vectric. I want to take the time to eventually learn AutoDesk, but right now itās kicking my butt!
Fusion has a heck of a leaning curve. I have been at it for probably more than 2 years and I still regularly search the web for solutions. I am sure that a big portion of that is the fact I am an old fart and stuff learned one day is gone by the next day ![]()
On the other hand, Fusion can do stuff that Vectric hasnāt even thought of.
Vectric is fine for one-off and straight forward things. I find parametric design to be absolutely essential and Vectric doesnāt have that capability. If you are just into signs and carving stuff, Vectric is probably a better choice. I started using Fusion for my 3D printing stuff and didnāt want to learn another program so I stayed with Fusion.
With Vectric being āsimpleā, it is apparently (I donāt have Vectric) a lot easier to learn.
Thanks Jens. Iām approaching old fart status, just turned 60, so Iām with you! Canāt complain about the price of Fusion vs Vectric. Will see how frustrated I get and go from there.
Thanks again!
