I’m a recently retired software engineer and am a hobbyist woodworker.

I own a Shaper Origin and have done some projects with it over the last year or two.

I just ordered an AltMill (June 2025) and am now in the waiting period.

I’m interested in pursuing non Windows solutions for the AltMill. I ordered the gController for my AltMill but I have no intention of ever booting it in Windows. I plan on installing Ubuntu on it from the get go.

My current plans are to use Blender and BlenderCam for developing projects. I moved to Blender last year for designing my furniture projects and hope to leverage BlenderCam going forward.

I plan on documenting my Linux journey with the AltMill on YouTube and within this forum. I also look forward to sharing ideas with anyone else on a Linux journey.
