From close loop stepper motor update: Capability of full simultaneous 4-axis CNC programs, allowing for completely new types of geometries to be machined in one setup.
I am just starting with the Vortex and would like some understanding. Does anyone have a simple explanation of what this might allow, and what software supports this? This old guy sometimes need it dumbed down a little.
@mhforbes It looks like no one has replied to this, Morris.
I just updated my Vortex to the closed loop stepper motor. In reply to your question, so far I have experimented with doing spindles with square tops and bottoms. Using VCarve pro, I have created two projects that allow me to run pockets on each end, rotate the spindle by 90°, pocket again, etc for 4 times. I’m not there yet, but this may give you something to think about.
I’ve seen other rotary projects that set the Y off centre. This means that more of the mill is engaged, making for better cuts. I’ve not tried that yet.
