Accent wall diy

My wife wanted an accent wall in our bathroom. The whole project with brick veneer was going to cost $700. Convinced her I could use my machine. At first I want the wood grain to pop through a white stain but it was looking too yellow. Ended up painting and making it look more like faux brick. Really enjoyed doing a project that wasnt for a customer and didnt require precision. Only took a $70 sheet of maple plywood.

Yeah. It wasnt moving even without my case of water. I was enjoying the lack of precision required. Need more projects like this. More of my speed!

My tiling wasnt great also. Had a gap of 1/8” ish between each tile. Solved it with my multi tool blade later on. And paint covered the rest.

Cool idea. My wife has been wanting a brick veneer similar to what you did in our kitchen, but finding it has been difficult.
What thickness of a panel did you use?

It was 1/2” maple plywood.

I think there are better choices. I am kinda new. I would have had more issues if I only stained. Think my pocket depth was .10”. It went into the second or third layer of ply. There were some voids I covered with filler and paint. Think you could get a higher grade of ply with more quality layers. Baltic birch maybe?
