Hey everyone. Adding a spindle to the LongMill has been a pretty common topic that has come up over and over again. I’ve generally discouraged users to avoid using spindles initially due to their complexity and lack of support, as the capabilities of the LongMill have grown, especially with the improvement to rigidity on the MK2, as well as having more folks pushing their machines and Makitas to the limit, a spindle may be an attractive upgrade for our more advanced users.
Although not a step-by-step install guide, I’ve taken some time to write down some general notes and things to look for if you’re looking to add a spindle to your machine.
