Hello: Does anyone know any instructions for adding a color-coded LED strip to the SLB. I would appreciate having the extra light on my project, and yeah, it looks cool. I know there are power outputs on the SLB, but what are the pinouts for the different status lights? Any help would be appreciated.
@Windlasher Welcome back. There are full instructions in the SLB technical manual.
Excellent - thank you
Quite straight forward really but be careful with the 5v power supply. I have been having difficulty with mine and it turns out the 5v transformer is only putting out 4.9v and it does not have enough grunt to run through all the cable and then run the LEDs. Connect directly at the SLB and it works fine so watch out for voltage drop.
Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking of running 5v to the LED strip so it didnt have to reply on the board if possible. Have you tried that? The technical manual says something about that as well.
@Windlasher I run a 5v wall wart to power the led strip. The only connected to the SLB is a data connection. That is what Sienci recommends and it has worked for me.
The SLB does not provide power to the strip light so it is essential to add a power supply. The power connections on the board is for input and just bridges to the led output.
So you have bypassed the SLB power input altogether and connected the 5volts directly to the ± on the strip?
I followed the directions in the SLB tech manual. I figured that there was not point in experimenting.
