Hello all,
I have been using my Altmill 4x4 for a couple weeks now with no issues. I just got my rotary a few days ago and have been playing with it with no issues.
Tonight, I finished up a rotary run and switched over to the cnc for a run and when I tried to home it I get Alarm Code 8 homing Fail. I have searched the forum and checked the setting and the wiring but everything seems ok. I just cannot get this alarm to stop popping up.
Any suggestions? Wiring seems fine, red light is on, on the Z axis limit switch and on the board so I know it is seeing the limit switch. I increased the pull-off to 5mm but still get the alarm.
Anyone with any ideas?
@cncConfusion Enable the toggle just below the coordinates. The X0, Y0, and Z0 buttons will change to HX, HY, and HZ respectively. This will allow you to home each axis separately. It may show you if it’s one particular axis giving you the error.
The pull-off distance is what I would have suggested. There’s also the seek rate that you can reduce.
The fact that this started to happen after switching back from the rotary could suggest a setting has been changed.
Ok, well I don’t know what or how something got changed in the settings between my cycles but anyways, I just reset the slb to factory defaults and then set everything back up from scratch and it is working now. I have no clue what could have changed and didn’t want to spend hours chasing it down so resetting seemed to be the fastest way to remedy the situation.
Thanks for the suggestion, I did try it and I got the alarm on all axis.
@cncConfusion At the top of gSender, there’s a toggle to show values that have been changed from the defaults. This is convenient because you will only see the changed values. If this happens again, enable this toggle (I forget what it’s called) and see if anything has been changed from what you have now.
Or export your settings before and after and compare the files.
