Altmill DIY Dust Shoe Questions?

@gmckeown Tks much, George. I need to read up more on how it connects and if it will work with my Mk1 Long Mill. I’m looking for something that does not take away the X travel that my Sienci one does.

Just a note re the Amazon brush stock - the back/spine of the brush is stitch together so bristle loss happens. More importantly, you will see loss where the brush is cut. You will also see a slight gap at that point.
As far as I can tell, McMaster does not sell to individuals in Canada (based on their web site under shipping) …

Yes, the McMaster Carr strips are molded together. You can see in the picture where I got ahold of it with the pliers and pulled several times. It crinked the bristles a little but nothing came apart. Someone else posted they used the 7/32 brush in the original Sienci part, so I thought I could force it. No way, the channel has to be enlarged as its smaller than 7/32.

The parts for the Z mount are for MK2. I had to redraw all of the parts in Fusion 360 due to shortcomings of their design where a number of parts did not fit or were a little too flimsy for my liking . I modified almost all the parts.

I added a back bracket for the hose with magnetic couplers. It keeps the entire assemble quite solid. For me, it works well.

I don’t see an easy way to adapt to the MK1 due to the gantry design.

@gmckeown That’s good to know. Tks, George

With the revised brush holder, the McMaster 7/32 stock fits tight but I wanted that way. Just takes a few minutes of pushing it around in a circle by hand. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7008466

The STL files are delivered digitally after purchase. They are not available for free download from what I know.
