I think Sienci dropped the ball on this. A maintenance kit should definitely be offered. I guess that going at breakneck speeds to get product out the door and exploring new product causes simple things like a maintenance kit to fall by the wayside.
Hopefully this will be offered sooner than later.
I got a quart (32 oz.) of Vectra Oil #2 on E Bay, a while back (3months) it was $13.00 inc shipping. That will last me a lifetime. Good Luck.
on e bay for $ 13.00 quart (32 0z.) Vactra Oil No.2
Come on, Jens, do you really think that it’s the responsibility of machinery manufacturers to offer maintenance kits for their machines? I was a professional furniture designer-maker for decades and over the years have procured many new and used woodworking related machines (including two CNCs) and the gold standard is exactly what Sienci Labs has done - provided the maintenance schedule and list of lubricants and such required consumables.
As has been stated by others, Carbide 3D offers the ways oil; a 2oz bottle and application pipettes for US$15. S&H plus brokerage fees to Canada is estimated to be $US45, bringing the total to $CA90. Because I can purchase a 128oz (that’s enough for sixty-four, 2 oz bottles) from Amazon.ca here in Canada for $94.86 including HST, delivered to my door, it’s a no-brainer as to which way I’ll go. Plus I’m selling the excess oil to anyone who wants to pick it up from me, for an 8oz bottle for $CA8.20. I only have to sell one bottle to more than make up the difference. Plus I’ll have helped out fellow CNCers - and to me, that makes it worthwile.
I applaud Sienci Labs for taking the time to provide us the required maintenance information, which is something no one else seems to offer.

I stand by my earlier statement. I should note though that I would never order a maintenance kit by itself exactly because of the cost of doing so. On the other hand, I have bought equipment where a maintenance kit was made available by the manufacturer and I gladly paid the few dollars it added to the cost in order to have the bits available when needed.
I ended up paying the $100 or so for many lifetimes worth a Vactra plus the around $30 if I recall for the grease plus probably another $30 for a grease gun so let’s say $160 and would have gladly paid $ 15 US (or $20 CAD) to have a small quantity of lubricant shipped with the mill (no extra shipping costs)
Can also hook you up with a bit of mine if it doesn’t work out.
For Canadians looking for the Mobilux EP2 grease, you can buy a big tube at Grainger (grainger.ca) for $10.
No problem with your approach, Jens. It seems to be working well for you and that’s all that matters.
Cheers,
Marty
