Hello!
My Son asked me to help him with a school project about Canada and Ice sheets…
We played with a few ideas and this is what we have done using the Laserbeam:
- 1/4" Baltic Birch (Around 7" x 6")
Then using the Longmill MK1, I Routed some Transparent plexiglass to go over the Lasered map to still see the lines on the initial layer:
- 1/4" Transparent Plexiglass
Then he wanted to add mountains on the right, so, using 2 layers of 1/8" Baltic Birch (a bit hard to see on the lower/right)
They will add colors and information in the class tomorrow.
Don’t know when I will be able to see the finished product.
The challenges were to start with a photo, from an IPAD of the Canada outline they worked on.
Turn the picture from bitmap to Vector file using:
This site does not ask for email/Sign up/etc…
Then imported to Lightburn, then Ran using GSender. (took around 4 minutes)
Then to keep in relation to the initial design, we drawn the Outline of the ice sheet in Lightburn, then exported it to SVG to Carbide Create to Generate a GCode to Gsender. Same thing for the 2 Layer mountain.
Was not sure if the Scale and match would be preserved from Photo/Lightburn/Carbide/Reality and it did work…
Took around 2 hours with a bit of sanding…
Was really fun! Have a nice Day…
