Hello, all. I am hoping someone can help me. I have the LongMill 30x30 MK2.5 with a spindle. The dust boot that came with it doesn’t work for me since it attaches to the spindle and is relatively large. Does anyone know if there is one that connects to the Z axis, like the Magnetic Dust Shield for the Makita router? I have been looking all morning for something, and unfortunately, I have come up empty.
Check with pwncnc.com they have one for a MK2. I made that one, but had to modify it to fit a MK1. You can buy complete, or buy the files and print your own with there hardware.
I also really liked the Magnetic Dust Shield and wish it were available for their Spindle kit.
@ozguzzi Do you happen to have a photo? I looked at it on their site, and it looks exactly what I am looking for. They don’t have any photos of it on the CNC. You said you made one? Did you purchase stl files or from scratch? Thanks for the helpful information.
dam4 I bought the files from PWNCNC to make the dust boot for a MK2. It is a little different for a MK1, so I just modified a couple of parts. Should fit yours just fine,
The front piece is held on by magnets. Here is the location of their maker files:
I made ver3.
You need to go to thier SHOP area, then maker files. They do sell it complete also.
I just upgraded to the ER20 spindle and am not happy with the included dust boot. It has to clamp to the spindle below the spindle mount which means I sacrifice a huge amount of Z travel.
I’m looking for something simpler.
Has anyone tried something like this:
I know this is an older thread, but I have the dust boot that is at the other end of that link (on here looking for other options) and it has the same problem. I have it mounted on a Makita router and it sits very low even after cutting 1.5” of the brush bristles off. I’ve had the detachable magnetic base catch on material clamps and throw off my Z heigh and cause the machine to go out of square,
