I had a piece of Acacia hardwood countertop left over from when I made up the stove top cabinet. It’s been on my project list to make a wooden topper to protect the glass stove top for a while, but Acacia is no fun to work with. When I originally cut the countertop material my traditional power tools complained a bunch, I was in no hurry to get in there with hand tools and make the final addition to the stove cabinet.
I went through all of the Altmill setup processes and got the spoil board made up, overall it went as planned. I needed a project that would test this thing out. So I thought “what about that super hard countertop I need to cut down?”. This is the result, it was way easier than using hand/power tools and I am pretty happy with how it came out. The Altmill didn’t miss a beat, there was even a hidden nail in the countertop and it cut right through it.
