I’ve gotten it working! So this is the new news:
Everyone on the Forum now has the ability to set their location if you’d like to be a part of a broader User Map
This is completely optional, and if you do enter your own address then please be mindful to not give your full street address unless you want to do it on purpose for your business or other use - you don’t know who’s online that you want to share that sort of information with.
Anyway, I’m very excited about this because, for anyone who chooses to be involved:
- New users to our community now have the option of finding others close to them to potentially reach out for help or in-person demos
- Users have the ability to create local groups for meetups or other events
- We get to see how many of us there are and where in the world we all come from!
How you set it up
- First, click the 3-lin menu at the top of the Forum and select ‘Users Map’
- Here, you’ll be able to see the full map of users on our Forum, as well as get the option to add your own by clicking ‘Update My Location’
- On your User Settings page, scroll to the bottom and type in your address (remember to keep it vague unless you want people knowing exactly where you live) and then choose from the list whichever result is what you’re looking for. After Saving Changes you should briefly see yourself appear on the map now too!
