So just got my gControl and trying to attach the computer to the VESA plate. It ships with both M4 an M5 screws but the holes on the monitor are clearly tapped for something smaller than M4 as the screws will absolutely not fit! I don’t have anything smaller on hand so kind of screwed there. Is this an issue or is it just me?
Is it possible to use an external or keyboard with the gControl computer?
Unless there is something special about the physical computer itself that would prevent it, It should be possible because this is just another version of Windows 11.
I haven’t received my gControl panel computer yet (hopefully by the end of this weekend) but I do plan on adding a bluetooth keyboard. I’ll let you know how I make out.
I was able to get both btooth keyboard and mouse connected and all is good there. Still frustrated that the tapped mounting holes don’t match the M4 screws they sent. May try to tap them out tomorrow
Hi Doug,
Can it be possible that the screws aren’t metric at all? When I ordered my mill, I added a set of inserts with the order. Turned out these didn’t fit m6 screws at all. It seems even screws can have inchy measures. Who knew.
Anyhow, that is the only thing I can think of. Wrong screws/inserts.
I feel it might be wise to at least convey your problem to sienci and ask if it is ok to tap them out. This way they can log this problem, and do something about it. They might even have a solution other than tapping.
I have a thread gauge tester and the screws are M4 and M5 for sure. My tester only goes down to M4 and the holes look like they could be M3 maybe but definitely not tapped out for M4s. I tried a number of smaller imperial screws and they didn’t fit either. I’m going to head to the hardware store today to see if I can find a screw that fits it and if that fails then I will have to try to tap the holes out. Pretty frustrating.
Alright, well, following a trip to the hardware store (45 minutes away) I determined that the mounting holes on my gControl are indeed tapped for M3 screws. I purchased some M3 screws and washers and sure enough the whole thing went together quite nicely. As the device shipped with only M4 and M5 screws this is a bit of a Quality Control issue. Not sure if anyone from Sienci monitors this forum but unless my gControl was a complete anomaly you have a little bit of an issue on your hands with this batch of gControl devices and the included mounting hardware.
Thanks @martindg,
The team is aware and suggest if you find you have the small M3 holes on the back, you can use the included “small black M3x5 screws + washers”, in place of the M4 hardware.
If you find you don’t have anything that will work, contact us at support@sienci.com and we will fix you up!
