I bought 24v PNP/NO proximity sensors by dyslexic mistake, NPN/PNP lol! I read where they can still be used given the SLB’s 24v architecture, however, I am not getting the SLB to recognize them or trip. I changed some settings back and forth with no changes in behavior. The sensors light up when detecting metal but I can’t get the amber lights to come on the SLB or trigger an alarm and stop motion. I temp hooked back up a mechanical switch (to make sure I didn’t let any smoke out) and it worked as it should with the amber lights and shutting down the SLB when tripped. Out of the 8 basic mechanical switches I have, only 2 will actually work without “pull off” issues, hence the prox switch purchase. I am jumping 24v from the PWR1 as a “suggested” option by Sparkstech in leu of a more permanent change to the SLB, btw. 24v=brown, axis pin=black, gnd=blue, settings=unsure. Does anyone have a clue how to get these things to work? I’m guessing user ignorance as far as settings.
I do not have an slb, but the problem might be due to the io chip itself is expecting the sensor to relay a 5V vcc and not a 24V one. There is a mention of changing the vcc output from 5 to 24V in the slb manual.
Having the “wrong” transistor is a simple pin invert. I however would opt to return the “wrongly” purchased sensors for the correct one, if tinkering with smd components and solderbridges isn’t something you are comfortable with.
I have a feeling the entry about switching the vcc to 24V isn’t simply skipped using a 24V found elsewhere on the board.
But then again, I do not have an slb, nor 24v sensors to play with. I might be wrong entirely.
Maybe I misunderstood his video and what you outlined sounds more likely to be the issue. Returning the sensors is definitely the path of least resistance. Thank you thank you!
