I would love to see Altmill offer a a higher gantry clearance as an option. I need a minimum of 6" but would prefer to have 8-10". I would love to be able to make acoustic guitar necks without doing double sided milling. yes I understand that this would be a significant upgrade as there isn’t a huge market for it but I would imagine most makers would like a higher gantry at least a little bit.
I have a Shapeoko 5.1 Pro and at least PWNCncn has some 1" riser blocks to increase the gantry height by 1". I keep eyeballing the Altmill but won’t pull the trigger because of the Z height

@fostinoguitars You could say that the Longmill can already do this simply by putting risers between your table and the rails. Of course, travel of the spindle can limit how much clearance you can have.
Yep thats possible with most machines. Simply raising the gantry doesn’t take of the issues associated Not really interested in an entry level machine.
@fostinoguitars The Longmill Mk3 is a definite upgrade from the mk2, perhaps a bit higher than entry level?
It looks like it’s a decent entry level machine. I don’t consider the el cheeps entry level like Genmitsu, Fax Alien and all the other sub par less than $1k machines lol, Pure rubbish.
