Huanyang settings and Modbus

Hi

Does anyone have parameters that have to be set to the Vfd when running Modbus on Slb-Ext?
I have vacuumed the internet for info and tried a lot of settings, with no joy.
I’m about to run it analog, it worked fine with Blackbox 32 that I have swoped to SLB-EXT.

Its a HY02D223B. 2.2 kW water cooled spindel

Hey Keld,

Have you looked at the technical manual for the slb?

Or/and have you searched the forum for usefull topics that may contain information you can use?

Hi Eddie

Yes, i have looked everywhere other forum too, but can’t find a clear answer.
I have tried several options in settings on Vfd and another cable.
Moved cable to the onboard connector, but no luck.
So can’t see me out of it for now.
I can see that i need a converter to use analog 10V.

The huanyang has it’s own spindle profile in gsender. I have assisted several folks with getting their HY vfd’s running. I’m not familiar with blackbox x32 but I am familiar with setting them up with the SLB. If it was working over serial control on the BB, I would make sure the baud rate, data method (PD165=3) and address match the settings in gsender. VFD should be powered on before the slb. there is also the pesky tx/rx crossover thing.

I too struggled with getting my Haunyang running. First issue was not using grblHAL. After that I had to change the Haunyang setting PD001 and PD002 both the “2”. After that all went well.

Hi
I’ll try that later today. Im struggling with several questions, like what Baud speed should set it to in the vfd and Gsender and so on.

Hi

I’ll try that later today. Its morning here, so have to work.

Hi Eddie

I have used settings to the link you have me.

I still get the same error 14
VFD
0001 to 2
0002 to 2
0163 to 2
0164 to 2
00165 to 3

Rs+ to B
Rs- to A as the documentation says.
I do not have +5v and ground on.
And gsender is set to the right setting and bus number 2.

Is the jumper on the right side of the terminal block on the VFD set to VI?

Yes it is, it has been running fine on 10v to a Open Builds Blackbox X32 (Analog) with gsender.
A 5V power and ground to it didn’t help either.

I’ll install a earlier version of gsender, so a potential bug is ruled out.

Your params are correct. Do you have Huanyang v1 set as the default spindle profile in gsender? the other thing that comes up a lot is the serial cable + and - need to be swapped on the vfd rs485 terminals. FWIW, most of the reason I upgraded to an SLB was because I couldn’t get analog spindle control working on the Longboard.

Just curious, what was it?

Jesus, it was set as the labels said, but swoped it as you said, and that worked.

Thanks for your help.

Acm is not active, if you wonder.

No problem, glad you got going.

on a serial connection + goes to - and vice versa on the other wire. Think of it like a 2 lane road, traffic going in opposite directions.

Yes, but that was not that way I thought about it. +To + and -to - was in my head.

The other was seems wrong to me.

Tomorrow XYZ is up and running. Waiting for JST wires for endstops.

My mod is is set to 19200

Mine to. It works fine now.

We have a 2.2 kw Huanyang on our Atlmill and the manual rpm, speed and feed controls on the gsender computer do not work.

Say this comment “VFD should be powered on before the slb. there is also the pesky tx/rx crossover thing.” and wondering if this could be why since our SLB is powered on before the VFD.

cheers.

Switch the polarity of the rs485 connection an see if that fixes your issue.
