Laser beam not light up

I own a Sienci laser and it has definitely not been overused! After I had not used it for awhile for some reason the laser beam wouldn’t light up. I checked all the connections and found nothing out of the ordinary. So my next thought was, is it maybe the laser driver? I was under pressure to finish some work, so I decided to order a new driver! Still, the laser beam would not come on. What next? Maybe I do have a problem with the wiring, so I ordered a set of new wiring. Even that did not get my problem solved!!

My question to all of you is…how can I check if it is possible that the laser diode is burnt out? And is this something I could even check by myself? Or can someone perhaps instruct me on what I should try next??

Any help and advice is very much appreciated.

@franazzo What have you changed since it worked last?

What have you tried to get it to fire?

Hi, nothing that I remember. I finished a job and turned it off, and that was it. A while later, I set it up again like always, but the beam would not come on. I went to the Sienci website under laser setup and followed the setup step by step.

Generally for laser diagnostics I start with putting all the resources in one place.

Laserbeam setup docs: FAQ - LaserBeam
SuperLongBoard laser docs: Technical Manual - SuperLongBoard

There’s some specifics in here about how to enable the Laser as an alternative spindle:

Because the laser is set as “Spindle 1”, sending “M104Q1” will switch to controlling the laser

So if you’ve verified that those steps are correct, then I would start to investigate the cable connections - try removing/replacing the connectors and verifying the location.
