I have installed the SLB and am working through the settings running Version 1.4.10.
Everything works except the LaserBeam. These $ entries are foreign to me. I did manage to go to the Console and check $spindles, as I saw someone do, and the entries are exactly the same. When I press Laser Test, 2 small green lights come on in the SLB but no output at the laser. It is set to 1% for 1 second. If I select Laser On, the lights remain on with no output. I’m not opposed to replacing the LaserBeam module if that truly is the problem.
Once you select the laser toggle, did you select the laser driver in the dropdown? It’s defaults to spindle. It’s something that should be changed in gsender to automatically select the driver when you enable the laser toggle. I have been using the SLB for a while (preordered it) - works with the laser no issues for me.
Yes. I copied the statement “Ensure that you only turn on Laser Mode AFTER you switch over to laser output, as well as turn OFF laser mode BEFORE you switch back to any other output.”
@Wills I don’t know where those settings are coming from, but IMHO, they are nuts! $30 should be either 255 or 1000. (I don’t know if Sienci still recommends 255 for people running the SLB. I never followed it and went with 1000.) $31 should be 0 and $32 should be 1.
I still have nothing happening. When I made those changes, a black circular arrow appeared that said “Reset to the default value of …”
I just checked the wire connections and the correct positioning of the two wire plug into the three wire socket on the SLB and all is correct and secure. The fact that the 2 green lights in the SLB come on seems to indicate, to me, that the power is flowing correctly there.
@Wills I’m stumped by this, Bill. Since it worked on the LB, there is no reason to believe that that the laser module is defective. I have a diode laser module on my LM connected to the SLB and it works fine. However, I don’t use any of the gSender functions to change from router use to laser use, so I can’t help anyone who does, such as you.
I see another user here with the same issue. I suggest that you open a support ticket with Sienci. I suspect that the solution is a simple one that is outside my level of competence.
Please report back with the solution when Sienci provides it.
@Wills I was just reading the SLB tech doc. Be sure that your laser is plugged into the bottom two of the 3 pin port on the SLB. The LB only had two pins on the board, so you couldn’t get it wrong. The SLB has a 3-pin port so, to repeat, make sure you are plugged into the bottom two.
Sorry Grant, I answered this in the other question. I have checked this connection several times to verify that it is correct. I don’t know where to start a new ticket. I guess I mistakenly thought this was the place to do it. I’m thinking I may reconnect the LB and try the LaserBeam there again.
@Wills No worries, Bill. I need to join the two topics. I’m just looking at the best way to do that.
To open a support ticket, go here Contact Us | Sienci Labs. Don’t worry if you don’t have an order number. Just enter a dummy number.
To clarify, this is a user forum. Members are ready and willing to help, but sometimes solutions need the expert help from Sienci tech support. They do monitor the forum from time to time, but you will get more prompt results by contacting them directly. (This week, many in tech support are off, so expect a bit of a delay.) Also, to clarify, I don’t work for Sienci in any capacity, so my technical competence is no more nor less than any other user/member here. In fact, it is signifcantly less than many members here.
Thanks Grant. You helped me when I was first setting up my MK1, so I realize you aren’t employed , but your always ready to help. And we all appreciate that.
Now what? When I start gSender grblhal 1.4.10 there are 4 actions showing, “Probe”, “Macros”, “Console”, and “Coolant”. No option for Spindle or Laser?
