Got a LaserTree 2W IR laser module functional on my AltMill. A bit of a Frankenstein arrangement right now but got it working and first sample etch on brushed aluminum came out pretty nice.
Hi Martin,
When I glanced your topic, I though: surely there’s a zero missing here. So after reading and looking better, I decided to look a wee closer into this module. Interesting unit.
Could you elaborate on some testresults regarding feeds and power.
Love the result, how long did it take to etch that?
@Spamming_Eddie The compass rose is about 3.5” x 3.5”. I etched it at 95% Power with a feedrate of 60 inches per minute. It took maybe an hour twenty to complete. I’m very early on in terms of exploring feeds and power so don’ t have much more to offer yet. Will likely run a power by feed rate test grid tomorrow .
looks good! i’ve had my eye on that IR laser for use on plastics and metals. thanks for sharing your results. i have the Lasertree k60 blue diode laser which has been useful for wood and stone projects.
Are you using the K60 on a Longmill or Altmill?
I’m using it on my frankenstein SLB-EXT converted OneFinity X-50, aka “AltFinity”
