I was having the same issue with my rail light staying white. I added just a 330 ohm resistor to the data line on the SLB side and it works for me now. no cap .

Iā€™m glad I found this post. I have the same led strips and having about the same issue. I ran 18g shielded 3 wire from the controller to the rail and still have issues. randomly 1 to 5 leds will work but with random colors. I have some different ledā€™s coming in tomorrow. Iā€™ll try those and if they do the same thing iā€™ll add the resistor and cap.

Welcome! Try the series resistor first (its easy) and if it doesnā€™t work, add a capacitor. The cap is there for the spike current draws to keep the brightness levels the same - not really a problem for the AltMill gantry lightsā€¦
