MK2 with SLB & Spindle Lockup

I had a strange thing happen 3 times now, so it is concerning. I have MK2 40x30 with SLB (original 500 pre-order) and the spindle. What happens is a job stops dead, but the spindle is still running. The e-stop does not stop the spindle. I have to power down.

gSender doe snot show any errors, the SLB is not showing error leds either.

Had anyone had this happen?

I have gsender 1.4.11 installed.

I have had a similar issue as of late. it started with random gcode errors, I switched to ethernet and got 2 complete jobs out of it. Now, surfacing jobs halt with no error until communication timeout and requires a bounce of the SLB to reestablish communicaiton to the host PC. the led’s that flash on comms go dark when this happens. Switching back to usb ends with the same result. I don’t know whether the e-stop is working because I just hit the stop button on the VFD. I have a ticket open and am waiting on a response to my update from last night.

Wow Kerryh, that sounds like trouble. For both the usb and eth to not work properly I can only imagine a few circuits to not work as they should.

One being the 3v3 not being up to par or wobbely. The 3v3 is used on the processor with the usb lines directly on it and it has a big part at the eth circuit too. It being unstable might result in communication losses.

The 3v3 is generated at VR1. Maybe you could watch the 3v3 indicatian led for a while, while running a job.

U17 (mcu) might have loose pins or solder bridges.

Y1 (25Mhz) clocks the mcu. That one can be out of tune, but without an oscilloscope, that is not detectable.

I lean towards a problem with the 3v3 though.

Here’s some components you can check. Maybe you can spot something weird.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don’t really have the tools to troubleshoot the board. I can barely read packaging ingredients without 3.0 readers. I suppose I could take some high res photos and look for any bad solder joints. FWIW these issues seemed to come on gradually beginning a few weeks ago with gcode errors to the comms lockups this weekend. It isn’t the entire board because the probe led still illuminates when I complete the circuit.
