Rotary text tool path

I made an Easter egg using Scott’s video as a guide. I have two things I can’t figure out. I put names onto the egg, that wrap around the middle of the egg. It looks great in v carve but it carved mirrored on the egg. I got past it by mirroring the text in v carve but I’m thinking there’s something I should be doing besides mirror?? The other is it wraps the name all the way around the egg, even though it looks like it’s only halfway in the v carve simulator, any ideas what I might try or what I’m doing wrong. Thanks Hemlock

@Hemlock30 You may get more help if you post the .crv file.

@Hemlock30 When I had this (self-made rotary, so maybe the issues were different), there were two things that I needed to correct. First was that my Rotary axis was rotating contra to convention, and the second was in the VCarve Post Processor where the ‘Y’ to ‘A’ substitution happens needed the sign changing from ‘+’ to ‘-’ to get the correct rotation convention.
I believe convention is, chuck to the left, +ve movement is ‘top towards you’ and -ve is ‘top away from you’. Perhaps someone with factual knowledge could confirm or correct this

Ill post my file as soon as i can. Thanks

I think you might be right, my chuck is left mounted and my A+ rotates away feom me. Anyone know how to reverse the A+, A-?

@Hemlock30 What machine and controller are you running. Also, is your Vortex open loop or closed loop motor?
Finally, are you using the post processor supplied by Sienci?

Altmill, closed loop, yes it the post processor from Sienci. I had to crack a few eggs, but ive made some headway. The text length and width need to be shortened in v carve, not sure why it looked right but cut wrong, but when I shortened the length it looks and cuts fine. The mirrored text I think was/is reversed “A”. I did manage to reverse my A, but im not honestly sure how?? But I’m calling it a win.
Now I’m off to make eggs, it started out as 5, but with my wifes “help” its now 16, probably more we’ll see! Thanks for everyone’s input.

@Hemlock30 I’m glad that you got things worked out. I’ll close the topic.
