I had a Huanyang VFD and spindle working for over a year. It then stopped working properly via GSender but would manually. I wanted to upgrade to the PWNCNC spindle and did that. I still have the same issue with that. I get an alarm 14 and it won’t control via GSender.
one thing I noticed is the green and red lights are no longer flashing on the control board for it communicating only the green really fast. Is it possible the RS485 is bad on the board?
Sorry you are having problems! My response is a very simple one. Have you tried a different cable? You have to troubleshoot and I am thinking simple versus the motherboard. Let us know!
@ejbrabender There have been other discussions about error 14. Some of them were resolved by ensuring that the vfd is powered on before the SLB is powered on. I have no idea if this will resolve your issue, but it can’t hurt to try.
I have also tried this. I have searched the error 14’s as well and have done everything I have found so far.
The only thing different from when it used to work properly to now is the RS485 on the SLB only flashes green really fast and no longer green to red. Tells me a communication error but I don’t know if it’s a setting or a bad RS485.
I’m open to ordering another SLB but I don’t want to drop $185 or so and have the same issue. At the bear minimum I am up and running manually but really really miss it being fully controlled by gsender
Yes, there are alternative ways to connect a Huanyang VFD to a Sienci LongBoard (SLB) controller without using the standard RS485 connection. The main alternative is through an analog connection, using a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to Voltage converter
This has been corrected- Notice there are two different wiring diagrams out there and the one I followed wasn’t correct- Swap of a wire from the VFD to the SLB corrected the issue and running like a dream now
