Silent Auction Benefit

Hello!
I made this for a benefit that will include a silent auction. I am hoping it brings in a good deal of money. It felt amazing making something to help a family in their time of need.

The project started as two pieces of rough cut walnut that were joined together using tite bond 3. I then used my surface planer to flatten them before using my CNC machine to surface the slab and cut out the bowl openings. I had the metal legs leftover from a previously posted project. Not knowing what breed of dog will use this, I kept the carving generic. It was finished with oil based polyurethane that has become my go to for finishing.

The bowels didn’t quite fit flat in the openings, so I used a round over bit with a bearing and my handheld router to ease the edge. I really like how it turned out. Note to self, remember to measure the bit in the CNC router, hence the black ring around the cut outs. I smelled something burning and instead of stopping it and only having one ring, I’d have a matched pair. :joy::rofl::crazy_face:

@Jake It looks great, Jake. I’m sure the auction recipients will be grateful.

I love how you made lemonade from lemons by duplication the burn ring. You likely already know that you should check the collet now. That heat build up is not good for them.
