SLB A axis issue

Good afternoon, I’m new to the group, thanks for adding me.

I have a question about the SLB and A axis setup. I built my rotary machine with open loop motors and because of that, tech support is non existent. I’m trying to use the A axis output on the SLB. I followed the instructions in the tech manual. I can’t the A axis to respond at all. The manual said to verify the g code settings ( a list of several) I’m not very versed in g code and don’t know what the typical settings would be I emailed the company and after several emails I basically got thanks for buying our controller but since you put it on a machine we didn’t make we can’t help you.

Does anyone know what the typical g code are for the SLB A axis with open loop motors are.

@Jim55 Welcome to the group, Jim.

I can’t find anywhere in the SLB tech manual that mentions gcode settings. Nor should gcode have any effect on getting your rotary to work. Are you referring to the firmware settings mentioned in the manual? If not, I could be missing something. Please post a link to the the gcode settings you are talking about.
Also, what CNC do you have?
Has your rotary ever worked?

Thanks. It’s on page 69 of the manual under the picture of the driver wiring. I’m trying to use the A axis output on the SLB.

I built my machine myself from an old lathe and parts I had laying around my shop.

It works well with Mach 3. I saw the SLB and gsender and thought it would be a bit cleaner to use.

It works well on my table router but not on the rotary.

I’m not too keen on having to use two different software in the shop

@Jim55 Tks, Jim. It’s as I thought. Those are not gcode settings. They are firmware settings that you can set using gSender.
I know nothing about Mach3. However, when running Mach3, what you are using as a controller? How is the rotary motor getting power?

True, and that’s what I’m trying to find out what the setting are to enable the A axis on the SLB.

As far as Mach 3, I’m running a Mach 3 control board with TB6600 stepper drivers with a 48 volt power supply for the motor control. It works well, just not user friendly at times,

I reconnected the Mach 3 and it’s working again

@Jim55 OK, understood. With the SLB, how are you powering the rotary axis motor?
