I have been building a CNC and have been debating spindles, I plan on using the SLB for control. Any suggestions? Is the scienci spindle kit worth the “hype”?
(please keep in mind I am a moron and don’t know if I can set up a VFD system without lighting my shed on fire)
@Das_Otto I’ve moved your question from the gSender category as it does not pertain to gSender.
Hallo Otto,
I went down a rabit hole just yesterday trying to find a spindle to run on this side of the pond on that 220V grid we have around here. The few producers of hobby cnc machines we have down here either sell nothing the likes sienci does or have spindle sets but do not display the price - pricing on request- and we all know what that means.
I have found a kinda affordable hybrid spindle that works with a digital signal, but I need to dive in a bit further to see if it will work with my longboard and future me demands I research the slb too.
For the rest, I could not find anything that could compete with the specs nor price range of the sienci spindle. I have stumbled upon drop shippers selling tape wrapped dissapointments, but future me slipped me a few shop fire daydreams, so those are out of the question.
If its half the price of the sienci spindle and double the power, it aint real.
When I first encountered sienci, I would prolly have dismissed them for their pricing seemed to good to be true, were it not that they got recommended by Garret. I went with them and never looked back to those wonky overpriced cnc machines they dare to ask 3 times the amount for, on this side of the pond.
There’s a reason hobby cnc isn’t taking off over here. Anyhoo, I believe in sienci standing behind their products and their costumers like no other company.
So eventhough I do not have a sienci spindle, I know it will work on their slb, they support it, warrant it and sell it for a reasonable price. Name me a company that would reference 3th party spindles for costumers to look into because they will work with their SLB controller.
Trying to find something simular must have a good reason, like a European grid or something. And even then, converting to 120V is probably the best option, but that is a question future me needs to answer.
Can’t let me do all the work ey.
I’m in the US so I’ll probably end up getting the scienci spindle. I do have access to 220 so if you find a good one let me know. I stumbled upon a genmitsu/sainsmart spindle that has a 220v option. I don’t know a ton about them but I’ve heard the machines are pretty reliable and may be worth a look
