Thoughts on connection issues. possible board

I recently had to replace my SLB controller because of it wouldn’t communicate with the spindle. After replacement it worked for one day. Now when I turn on Gsender the little box in the upper left screen says “CONNECTING” but it never does. I’m afraid I have another bad controller. Still waiting for customer support to respond. Has anybody else had this problem, and if so how did you remedy the it?

@Rick3putt Welcome to the group. I do not have a spindle so I cannot speak from personal experience. However, this issue or similar ones have come up on here and one common reply seems to be the order in which the SLB, the spindle VFD and gSender must be started. Are you following that order?

@Rick3putt The “connecting” at the top left is not the connection from the SLB to the VFD but rather the connection from gSender to the SLB.

Which version of gSender do you have? And are you connecting with USB or Ethernet ?

Using version 1.5.7. Trying to connect with USB. As I understand I can’t switch to ethernet until I do connect and can then can make that change. I tried new drivers provided by tech support but that didn’t help either . Sienci provided a new SLB controller thinking it could possibly be a hardware issue but after I installed it and started gSender I have the same issue. I uninstalled gSender and reinstalled version 1.5.7 to no avail. For some reason gSender will not communicate with the SLB control board. Wondering if anybody else is experiencing this dilemma and looking for ideas to try and remedy the problem. All help is appreciated.

@Rick3putt You do not need to connect with USB before connecting with ethernet. If you cannot connect with ethernet, check your network settings. Follow the instructions in the SLB tech manual.
Are you trying to connect through a network router? That is possible, but Sienci recommends a static IP.

@Rick3putt What’s the IP address of your computer? The default IP for the SLB is 192.168.5.1
In order to connect to it from your PC, the PC needs an IP on the same network. So 192.168.5.2 would work.

After you make the first connection, you could change the SLB IP to something else. We can provide guidance for that too if you want.

Following your advice I changed the computer to a static IP address 192.168.5.2, Confirmed controller address of 192.168.5.1 and gSender still fails to connect during startup. I am not using a router to connect to the controller. I’ve tried connecting using the USB-A to USB-c cable provided and also using a USB-A to ethernet adapter and ethernet cable direct to controller. Neither one works. Any other suggestions?

@Rick3putt Can you connect the ethernet cable direct from the computer to the SLB? Then we can try a few things outside of gSender

@Rick3putt Not sure how proficient you are on Windows but can you open a Command Prompt and type IPCONFIG ? You want the default gateway to show 192.168.5.1

Also try typing “ping 192.168.5.1”
