Touch plate xy0

Just started using the sienci touch plate. Noticed XY zero isnt what I thought it was.

Behold my illustration. Circle represents the bit. My xy zero(A) is down and left from what I thought xy0 was. Though it would be more like “B.”

Is my touch plate working right? Using the xy probe for a .125 bit in this pic.

It certainly should be more like B.

Did you configure the probe that you’re using?

I have the Auto Zero Touch Plate, so had to go to Settings->Probe and select it from the list.

When you’re in the Probe tab, the image should represent the probe you have.

I’ve you’ve done that, I’m not sure what else it could be.

I havent done that. Will check it out. Thanks!!

When I do XY-zero, I use a ¼" precision gage pin.

Then I don’t have any problems with the flutes etc. on a bit.

You don’t mention whether you have the Auto Zero Touch Plate or the standard one. If it’s not the Auto Zero then it’s possible that the bit was set to the wrong size.

I don’t have the Auto Zero but I think it has different modes for some bit types and maybe that’s the problem but I can’t seem to find the documentation on it.
