VFD functionality

My new AltMill with Spindle seems to have no connection to the VFD. I cannot set the spindle to H-100. gSender defaults back to SLB_SPINDLE. All connections seem correct. The VFD manual is a technical manual, not a user guide. I’m humbly… lost at how to move forward.

@Yazzidawg Welcome to the group, Bill.

Does the info at this link help?

Thanks for the reply and the link.
I’ve been through the setup process twice. I’ve checked the connections. I’m not using an extension cord. I tried the alternative setup with the MODVFD settings. After setting H-100 for the default in Firmware/395, gSender will simply not allow me to select the H-100 spindle on the Spindle/Laser tab.
The Location controls work well. XYandZ all home nicely.
Seems like it is the spindle or spindle connection is not talking to the controller. The spindle will not turn on or spin. I would guess that is related to the H-100 spindle selection problems, but my beginner-knowledge cannot advise me on that.
The VFD flashes codes, but reading about the codes in the Operation Manual does not give me any clues if or what changes are indicated.
Question: does the Emergency Stop normally have two red lights to the right of the stop button? Could not find that information in the setup documentation.

@Yazzidawg I’m out of ideas, Bill. That didn’t take long, did it? :grinning:

The AltMill is way out of my snack bracket so I was just trying to see what Sienci had on the main site.

If I were you, I would open a support ticket with Sienci. Their turnaround time is excellent and I’m sure that they will fix you up. When your issue is resolved, please report back so that others can benefit from your experience.

LOL… didn’t take long at all.
I’ll open a ticket and follow up here.
Thanks for the chat.

I completed the assembly and I am having the exact same issue. When you get a response from support please post it. Thanks.

Solution sent did not work, but it was created in response to my sending in gSender Firmware settings export, diagnostic files from Calibrate, photos, videos, etc. I was given a set of changes to make in Firmware. It did not help and I lost some of the Location functionality. A little later, gSender crashed and would not fully load back up. So I deleted gSender. I then loaded gSender onto a different computer. Went through the First Movements and Spindle Kit Setup steps afresh and no joy.

Problem persists.
The spindle will not spin.

Tomorrow is a new day! I look forward to what tech support gives me.

Sorry to hear that the problem persists. I also submitted the issue to tech support, so will try out their response and post the results. Hopefully we can get this resolved.

Good plan. I’d give you the solution steps tech gave me, but it is likely that they were derived from the printouts I sent them. And although the solution given allowed me to list the h-100 properly, it also introduced an error in the location controls. I went through the steps of deleting gSender, reloading it starting from scratch and the h-100 loaded up just fine from the default settings. However, the error in the location controls continues in spite of the fact that I started all over again.
