Vortex Mounting Direction Question

I have a Longmill MK 2.5 30x30. I’ve assembled my new Vortex and I’m ready to mount it. Due to the location of my Longmill in my shop, I’ve installed the X-axis motor on the right. This means my SLB is on the right as well.

My question is, can I mount the Vortex with the motor on the right for easier wiring to my SLB? If so, what settings need to change in gSender?

@Donpagel Did you mean to say that your X axis motor is on the right?

lol. Yes, I fixed it. Thanks for the catch.

@Donpagel No worries. I only asked because I am easily confused.

Since you have “reversed” your X axis, I assume that you have already changed the eeprom settings in gSender so that left is left and right is right, yes??

If you install your Vortex with the motor on the right, you will want to change the A axis rotation in the same way so that it rotates toward you when you click the gui button to have it do that and vice versa. It’s no different than what you already did for the X axis.

Yes, you are correct on the reversal of the X-axis. I assumed that I would probably need to change the A-axis to reverse it also. Thanks for the clarification. I know that in any system, adding a new dimension exponentially increases the complexity and just want to make sure there weren’t other settings that would need to change.

@Donpagel I would hasten to add that you should not take my word for this. Make the setting change and with no bit in the router/spindle, confirm that A rotates as it should. I see no reason why it won’t but I would strongly suggest that you err on the side of caution. Please report back so that others can benefit and I will close the topic.

Thanks. I ended up keeping it standard. There was enough cable.
