X-axis off by factor of 10 when using GoTo or Outline

My X-Axis is moving correctly with Jog Control (5mm increments).
When I run an outline of a file, or ust GoTo, the x-axis is off by a factor of 10. In effect, if I set the move to location to 500mm, it goes 50mm.

If I then hit the GoTo0, the machine ‘thinks’ it travelled 500mm and tries to go back beyond the 0.

All other axis work correctly.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Run the file
  2. Pause
  3. Jog… etc.

I have a similar issue with 48x30, SLB on LM2.5. Have loosened the tension on the V wheels so nothing is binding on either axis so does not appear to be a mechanical issue.

I actually removed the whole gantry, and it is still happening.

Following a similar thread on this issue and the suggestion was to move the gantry all the way to the left and loosen the bolts on the anti- backlash block to relieve binding on the x axis. I did this and actually had the job run well for about 2/3 of the carve. It then appeared to bind again about 8” off to the left and ruin the job. So while not a fix it says to me that the root of the issue is in the mechanics and perhaps just need to continue tweaking the tensions on the backlash and the V wheels until I get the right balance.

@seanmritchie @JeffMcL, can either of you perform this operation again, and then go to the ‘Calibrate’ Tool to then generate a ‘Diagnostics PDF’? This would help us understand if the problem is in gSender or elsewhere

Id also advise trying this out a couple times or with a couple files to to be certain it’s exactly x10 each time, not just happening with one file or one setup

The issue was not a consistent one and I feel like through trial and error that I nailed it down to a combination of the acceleration speed and the tension on the antibacklash block. The docs say tighten just until the spring washers are flattened but I found that running the gantry up against the left axis and loosening the Allen screws there then snugging them up to just barely tight seemed alleviate the binding issue.

I also cranked down the Allen screws on the motor couplings all around, lubed the drive screws, dialed down the speed and feed settings and then did tests on light resistance material. So far, so good. I’ll post the report if I replicate the issue again.
