Anybody know if the newest edge release gives the ability to turn on screen blanking in the configuration rather than having to edit a configuration file by hand?
I asked for that some time back but haven’t heard anything about that request.
Note: SCREEN blanking, only the display and nothing else
@Jens Could not find anything in the GUI related to that. It would be a good feature to have, but only when gSender is idle. I don’t know how susceptible modern monitors are to burn in so I currently close gSender when not in use. It certainly would be great to leave it on.
Blanking works fine when enabled but I need to figure out (again) which file to edit and how. It’s a nuisance. I leave my mill and gControl on all the time.
It does blank on long jobs but it’s just a matter of moving the mouse to bring the screen back.
@Jens I don’t typically use a mouse or keyboard so I’d need to unblank by using the touch screen. I’d be afraid of stopping a job if I put my finger in the wrong spot.
Yeah, if you can’t see the screen and that’s your only input method, you would have a problem.
Just to be clear, I am not advocating for enabling blanking as a default. I am simply requesting that I have a choice about how my computer behaves.
PS.: I wouldn’t care so much if it didn’t take enough time to make coffee if you want to start up gSender (I don’t drink coffee) … and during the program load there is zero indication that the computer is doing anything giving the impression that it has crashed.
I understand that 1.6.0 will be faster … I can only hope.
