Hi All,
This is my first post here and I’m brand new to CNCing and was hoping some members here with more experience could shed some light on what might have happened.
I’ve ran a few test programs on my Altmill like the surfacing program in gSender and a few NC test files i generated in Fusion 360….and they all completed successfully.
Yesterday I was running an NC file in gSender to cut out holes in my spoilboard for squaring projects and midway through the project the gentry stopped moving and hovered above the hole with the spindle still rotating. After 30secs I hit the estop but it did nothing to stop the spindle. I had to physical unplug the power to stop it. I thought maybe the usb cable fell out but no, all was secure.
So after resetting power and several attempts at getting the laptop to talk to the SLB (multiple power on/offs on the slb and unplugging replugging the usb cable as usual) i reloaded the NC file and used the autozero touch plate to zero out the project. Once I hit start on the project, the altmill took off and buried the bit straight down into the middle of my spoilboard, breaking the bit.
I repeated the procedure, this time it buried the bit into the zero point of the project down to the spindle.
The next time, i tried running outline first of the project before starting. This one caught me off guard because it took about 30secs to initiate after i hit start thinking that it didnt take. It also proceeded in a pattern that was opposite to what was programmed.
So stupidly i ran the program again and it buried the bit into the zero point of the spoil board again, breaking the bit.
So I’m not sure what could have gone wrong here but I hope to solve it because up until yesterday i was enjoying the new machine.
