Hey, everyone,
My AltMill’s right side Y-rail has been problematic from the very beginning, so the good folks at Sienci Labs have provided me a replacement. I’m not too crazy about completely dismantling the machine to swap out this one rail, so I asked Sienci Labs how to most efficiently proceed. While waiting to hear back from them, I’ve been thinking about this issue and have come up with a method I believe will enable me to do the swap out, both safely and without damaging anything. If you go to my Instagram channel here, you’ll see what I’ve come up with.
I’d appreciate hearing from anyone else who’s had this problem, and your feedback as to how you tackled it and as well, what you think of my approach.
Cheers and happy 2025, everyone!

That looks like a very good plan, that’s what I would do also. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.
Update! Well, I decided to call on my good fiend Gerry Bailey who works with specialized commercial CNC equipment to see what he thought about it. Go to my Instagram feed Marty Schlosser (@apexwoodworks) • Instagram photos and videos
to see how we did the swap out of only the ball screw assembly. Worked like a charm!
Again, thanks Sienci Labs and my good friend Gerry Bailey
