For those running atc spindle and new clear dust shoe is the mounting bracket for the dust shoe binds as you slide it up the spindle? Mine slides fine about half way up but gets really hard to move as I try to move it up all the way. I tried to bend it out a little bit that didn’t help
Is the bracket binding on the aluminum extrusion of the spindle body or the 3D printed guides? If I tighten those guides all the way they bind on the bracket. And I’m referring to the static mounting bolt, not the thumb screw designed for that purpose. I intentionally have to leave those mounting bolts loose, which isn’t great for that use case.
Not a huge fan of that slider design. I will likely work on my own replacement when I have time.
I left the static screws loose as well. it looks like bracket is binding against the aluminum extrusion as far as i can tell. Here is a video i made of the issue
update - so i decided to try uhmw tape. took the mounting bracket off and it looks like its rubbing against aluminum spindle housing front corners and front sides. I can see paint marks on the aluminum. tape does help but it got ripped in few places due to tight tolerances of the bracket. i do have alumistick i can try which is an aluminum lubricant and see if it helps but will probably wear out as well. Support says its normal.
Say what ??? Sounds more like “we screwed up, we will send you a new shoe when we re-designed the bracket dimensions”

@Altmillal1114 if you remove the mounting brackets (the part with the red thumb screw), does it freely move up and down? How tight is the bracket against the spindle? No gap behind there for the steel shoe to jam into?
removing the 3d printed brackets, mounting bracket is tight as well, does move a little bit easier though
@Altmillal1114 maybe bend it a bit so that the sides spring outward when the screw is loosened?
@Altmillal1114 I’m guessing that over time, the aluminum at the corner of the spindle will buff out and make it easier to slide. Maybe graphite lube would help too.
Probably. I applied uhmw tape and that seemed to have helped. Going to try to apply a bit of alumislick lubricant to the spindle housing
Unfortunately, as thin as UHMW tape is, that makes an already tight fit even tighter. I’m not familiar with Alumislick but probably any table and tool surface lubricant would work (Dyna Glide, Glide Coat).
@Altmillal1114 If it’s the sharp corners on the spindle that are binding, could you not very gently round them over with a fine file, or wet/dry sandpaper?
they are not sharp. it seems that bracket bend tolerances are too tight and not easily bent out
alumastick did wonders, wow. its now very easy to slide up and down. Don’t even think UHMW tape is needed. lets see how long it lasts before it wears out and needs to be recoated again
new bracket that i got from sienci labs fixed the issue
@Altmillal1114 Curious as to what made them send a new one when the lube helped.
They replaced it because of the second issue that I posted about in new thread
