ATC spindle mounting plate

Curious question…has anyone run into no hole under the slotted area for the ATC spindle plate? The directions to you to use either the 4 hole mounting method or the 6 hole mounting method. Looks like I have the newer gantry plate that uses the 6 hole method but there is no hole under the slotted hole. Im going to use the 5 hole method I guess.

Thanks,

Tracy

What CNC, and which ATC?

Altmill with Sienci ATC

Hey Tracy,

I Just got my ATC spindle installed today. No issues with missing holes but my Altmill Mk2 was an earlier production model which uses the 4 hole mount plate on the Z axis.

Scenario 1. Are you saying you are missing this hole I circled in red?

Scenario 2. or is it this one for the shoulder bolt labeled 2

If it’s 1 and it’s important to you, I’d reach out to the Sienci support team, they are pretty good about getting replacements out.

If its 2. I would definitely reach out to the Sienci Team as the shoulder bolt is pretty critical registration of the spindle and tramming.

Thanks for the response…Its number 1 in the second photo…I know that you can run it with just the four holes. I do have 5 just not the number one hole. That’s why Im thinking it’s not a big deal.

Im missing the hole in the slot…top right…

I have the three on the left but only two on the right. The top slot is hard to see in the pic but if you have the ATC you probably know what you are looking at. Like I said, more curious than anything because I think it will be fine without it.

I just checked my Altmill today which was a batch 1 unit. It has the same Z mounting plate as yours. We are supposed to use the 4 hole mounting method. I suppose the addition of the 5th screw wouldn’t hurt.

Hi there,

Johann here (ATC engineer).

There are technically 3 types of Z-axis gantry plates out there, but as long as your plate doesn’t have a total of 8 mounting holes (i.e. not a 4x8 gantry), 4 screw mounting applies (and yes the 5th wouldn’t hurt).

We had to make some simplifications to make the resources easier to follow / universal, but I’ll take this feedback and see if we can change some of the verbage / illustration the next time we make updates.

Cheers,

Johann

Yep, thanks for the responses. I didn’t think it was a big deal, but I went ahead and used five bolts. Anyway, it seems fine to me
