Auto set-up block with 1/8 inch material problems

I’m cutting 1/8 Acrylic and outputting my code using gsender and calibrating with the auto set-up block. Since the alignment tabs on the block are taller than 1/8" my first pass Z-Axis cuts are set to the height of the block and not the material. Because of this difference they are not as deep as they should be. I’m using a mask on my work piece and the first pass cut is leaving a frayed edge on the mask instead of making a clean cut. I’m using a 60 degree V-bit.

Is there a way to compensate for the difference? It’s just shy of 1/16"

I would suggest you use a scrap of the material without the masking.

I regularly set my Z-Axis on a scrap of the same material - I have a block of the 3/4 wood with two layers of the blue tape I use for work holding.

On the documentation of the AutoZero Touch Plate it mentions flipping the plate over to use the “back tab”. If I had the AutoZero Plate I would use this “back tab” to z-Probe thinner material.

AutoZero Documentation - Step 3.4

Autozero, move to a safe spot, drop the z axis to zero, lower it 1/16th and make it yer new z-zero. Make sure to up your z to a safe hight before moving.

@wcr I would set X and Y only with the block on the corner. Then, flip the block over, put it anywhere on the material and set Z. I do this frequently with the regular touch plate.
