I have been using a wired keyboard and mouse for the past couple years with my MK2, SLB and micro-PC (MeLe Quiter 4C Fanless PC Win11 Pro).
I am occasionally frustrated by the wires.
I am considering purchasing a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
Has anybody had any issues with using wireless keyboard and mouse ?
BTW, I am using USB-C from the SLB to the micro-PC (with ferrite beads at each cable end).
I am going to be changing to Ethernet, I just haven’t gone there… yet.
@R.Portman I’ve been using a logitech wireless keyboard and mouse forever without issues. I also use a samsung table to control gSender. No issue there, either.
So far pretty happy with it. I’m not necessarily a fan of touchpads but this helps eliminate any dust-related issues with a mouse and keeps my cords to a minimum.
In my earlier setup, my pc in my office was handling cad and cam. To work with the mill 10m into the other room, I had two different bluetooth keybords connected to it and have recorded no trouble with them.
I now have a dedicated pc at the machine using a wired keyboard and a bluetooth mouse. The mouse goes to sleep pretty fast and needs to be woken by clicking a mouse button resulting in possible random activation within gsender. I’ve implemented a pause on start to be sure the machine doesn’t suddenly run a programm when all I wanted was waking up my mouse, like it did a few weeks ago.
I might replace it with a wired mouse, someday. I don’t like risking rezeroeing anything and screw over a perfectly good piece of wood, but I also don’t like the extra wire it will give.
I also don’t like needing to wake my mouse by switching it on off and on again with that tiny ass switch at the bottom side.
Either I learn to live with it, or it ends up on the lawn beneath my window waiting for me to roll out the lawn blender.
That pc has been configured to never sleep with anything. It’s the mouse that is going into battery save model pretty quick. It’s a cheap ass buckstore minimouse so I don’t blame it for not being top notch and if it buggs me enough, it’s byebye, but, I use the lm table pretty much for anything, even a quick spray paint on something isn’t off the table.
Let’s say, a mouse on my lm need to be dead cheap or indestructable.
Pause on start and sleepy mouse is my price to pay, for being cheap.
I converted the SLB interface to Ethernet. After making the changes to the settings, I had to reboot my mini pc and just for good measure the SLB.
All has been good since.
I worked 40 years in Electronics. Last 20 was R&D/Production. One of my last test stands was plagued by USB ground loop issues (smoke and melted cables). Had I designed all the controls with Ethernet it would not have been an issue.
