Can't properly unlock machine

I absolutely love gSender. Yesterday I was happily using by Prover XL 6060 without any problem. I updated the software and now I can’t properly unlock the machine. It is best illustrated via some screen shots.

The first shows the opening page having connected to the machine. I click on the Red Button to unlock the machine. The second shows after clicking. When I click on the yellow button nothing happens. The third shows that the button is active by placing the cursor over it. I can jog the machine in all 3 axes. I tried to run a job and it starts but keeps stopping requiring a resume.

I began to wonder if it was a hardware problem and switched to UGS (yuck!) to see what would happen. It worked just fine, except it did not work with my Sienci Labs probe. So, the hardware is fine, and it must be a software issue! Please get my gSender back because it is the only gcode sender that I much prefer to use!

Hey Noel,

Does going back to your previous version solve the problem? You can find older versions here: Previous versions of G-Sender.

@Lappa : Me too. That version is stable and has all the functionality I need.

Did you mean to connect with the grblHAL firmware flavour? My understanding was that the Genmitsu brand used a modified vanilla GRBL and I can see you are connecting using grblHAL. Make sure you are connecting with the correct firmware type.

Also, as a general note, you don’t need to unlock, it’s just that if you are connected with grblHAL the unlock button is always present on the UI which is a different behaviour than vanilla GRBL. You can see that the firmware is IDLE and ready to go in the machine status area - there is nothing to unlock.

Thanks for the prompt reply and your help. I have always connected the same way ever since I started using gSender. This is the first time that I have experienced the machine going into a series of pause/resume . It seems that this may be because of using grblHAL with which I am not familiar. I did not intend to connect that way. Prior to yesterday the lock button disappeared suggesting that I was connected via grbl. This change only happened after installing the latest version. I will make sure to connect via grbl and not grblHAL.

I went back to grbl and that got rid of the unlock button. However, I don’t remember which machine I had used for the firmware. I tried Sainsmart and Generic CNC but the firmware settings are now causing the the machine to move very rapidly and Z+ is now Z-. X and Y move in the correct direction but rapidly. Please assist me to get back to where I was before?

Found the grbl setting for the 4030 and fixed it.

@GrahamJ As @KGN provided the solution to your issue, I will close this topic.

For the future, you may want to export your firmware settings to a saved file. That way, if you ever need to re-install them, you can simply import them from that file.
