Carveco AI feature coming

Yall see this? Seen Timberfalls guy on youtube previewing their ai feature. Looks awesome. And supposedly available to the cheaper Maker version.

I take you are refering to this here video:

To be fair, AI checks all the boxes of what I don’t want to see (hate) in software. It’s cloud based so won’t work airgapped and depends on the continuity of a 3th party, meaning it can be bricked at any time. It works credit based, so it needs payment seperate from the inititial software package and prolly needs refills in payments or subscriptions. I am a buy guy not a sub yup.

I am glad I purchased software prior this ai craze trying to scam peeps out of their hard earned money. I want software that will work even after the dreaded acapolypse and I think the next generation of software will not be able to feature this life saving spec.

I know ai is here to stay, but as long as it cannot run airgapped on hardware I own, i am not interested in it being integrated into my design software. Ill find tools that do the same or a better job if needed and use them seperate.

So.. neah, not at all excited.

Have you heard of Ollama? I’ve played with it a little bit but I can only run the smaller models with my 32 gigs of RAM. I’ve used chat and code completion models. I have a feeling that design related AI models are probably too big for the average person to run locally but I haven’t looked into it.

EDIT: I use Follamac with Ollama to provide a GUI. Probably should’ve mentioned that.

Hey Michael,

It was random wednesday yesterday and I ramdomly ran into olama on youtube just yesterday. I hate it when I rant away on one device and the solution is given to me via another. I habe not looked further into it than that one vid on running a llm to replace alexa in a smart home enviroment.

I don’t think I can pull this off with any hardware I own atm, but I watched the whole vid and was intriged and shocked to learn that ai does not always require a nuclear power plant and a castle filled with serverware. It will prolly be over my head but it surely is something to look into.

I for one welcome our new overlords.
