Hi everyone,
I received my Altmill Thursday afternoon. Unboxed it and got organized for the build. Very impressed with everything. Assembled the parts and stopped at wiring because something didn’t feel right. Seemed like something was wracked/bound up. Had a beer and decided to resume assembly Saturday morning.
Got up Saturday at 5:00 am and headed to the shop with the nagging feeling something was off. Spent an hour or so reviewing the instructions to make sure I had followed them and completed them in the correct order. Checked out fine.
Closely inspected the machine and could not find any faults. Decide to get on the portal to see if any issues had been reported. First topic I see was the Sienci Labs post saying they had found a manufacturing defect in the left y axis gantry and if you were not able to assemble that part submit a ticket and they would send you a replacement. I had been able to assemble those parts but decided to submit a ticket because of the difficulty that I had had.
Jason Kent responded Monday morning and we asked and answered several questions and communicated a couple of times about my findings after disassembly. Long story short a new gantry has been shipped.
The BEST customer service I have ever received. Sience Labs ROCKS!
Hi Chris. I’ll be glad to write a Google Review. Just point me in the right direction. New gantry arrived Friday evening. Resumed the assembly Saturday morning without any difficulties. Had just mounted the SLB and had to leave the shop for 15 minutes. The two dogs were soaking wet so left them in the shop. Came back and they had chewed off the ends of the Y axis cables and one of the sensors that plug into the SLB. I had read the documentation thoroughly for the SLB and remembered that there is a listing for all of the connectors . As you know they are different for SLB EXT. So I need the manufacturer and part numbers for the 8 pin plug, the 2 pin power and the 4 pin sensor plug.
Thanks much
Received the new cables Friday and installed the. Altmill up and running. Had to switch the spindle wires to get the correct direction of rotation. Thank you to everyone at Sience Labs. Looking forward to incorporating this amazing machine into my workflow.
