This is more a FYI then a question as I figured it out, it did take me far too long to guess what the issue was though. When I first plugged into my AltMill Mk2 today with GSender it wouldn’t find anything to connect to, when I checked Device Manager in Windows the error Shown was “Device Descriptor Request Failed” I did a bunch of search and trying things including a second machine, no dice, same issues.
The issue was the factory cable was bad. Replacing the cable and everything seemed to work as expected.
Correct the factoryUSB cable was bad. I’ve read that Ethernet is more stable but my understanding is that you have to have a functional USB cable prior to using Ethernet
@gremlin You don’t need to have a functionning usb cable before switching to ethernet. When the time comes to update the firmware on the controller, then you will need a good usb cable.
That’s good to know weirdly there’s no step by step guide to using Ethernet in the g-sender docs. I found something at some point hopefully I book marked it on my other machine because I e not found it again. I thought you set the address up with gsender somehow over us. Then used it
Does a regular Ethernet cable work if I’m just going to plug it into the port on the computer and not put it on a hub? The. Use the wireless on the computer to drive it or do I need to setup a hub as a dhcp server for a subnet
@gremlin There are clear, step to step instructions in the technical manual for the SLB. When you’re read them, you will have the answers to all your questions.
