Ok so I got my spoil board mounted and am running the first surfacing cut. This Altmill is amazingly fast! Lots of MDF dust, but what the hey!! That’s what leaf blowers are for, right? Anyway, my question is I turned off the soft and hard limits before running. Do I need to go back in and turn them back on when this is done? Thanks.
There is a reason why soft limits and hard limits exist. They are not just there so you can turn them off … well you could … but why would you?
Sometimes it is necessary to turn them off but you should only do so if you have a reason.
If the mill is set up properly, you also do not need to turn limits off for resurfacing the spoilboard.
I understand. I was following the video from the Sienci site, so I know that I need to turn them back on now, but why would they give the instructions to turn them off?
Sorry, no clue. I have never turned any limits off.
they have you turn off limits to make sure you can cover entire spoilboard for surfacing as it might be outside of your regular travels. After you are done with surfacing, turn them back on to be safe
