gControl Power-on (auto boot at power-on?)

First post here … looked around for someone else whos been down this road and came up short, so here goes … and I’m not sure this is in a good place for this so feel free to suggest a better one.

I’m in the process of commissioning the 4x4 Altmill and so far the assy. and initial movement is all good. Now I’m waiting on a spindle (theoretically here Sat).

Anyway, my question here is this: does anyone know how to set the bios on the gControl pc / tablet to boot when power is applied (no fiddling with the down facing button). I want to have the PC and gsender controller come on together via switched power strip.

In my experience there is typically a setting in bios that determines how the system is to proceed when power is initially applied. Generally the choices are [off|on|last state] or similar. In this case, I was unable to find anything that looked familiar but I eventually found the following (seemed a long shot and did not work)
: Access bios by repeatedly hitting del; Select -ADVANCED; Select-SUPER I/O CONFIGURATION ; Options here are- ā€œRestore AC Power Loss By IOā€ - Options are Last State / On / Off .

I don’t know what ā€œSuper IO Configurationā€ is good for but thought it looked promising. At this point I’m stymied by the lack of information on the bios (American Megatrends (AMI) bios v.5.27 (on the one I have)) that would indicate if it’s even possible in this case.
Is there a technical resource for the guts / nitty gritty of the gcontrol bios?

Silver bullets are welcome, I’d settle for witty banter too.

Dan

I don’t have a gControl and I’m not having an easy time finding a manual although I did find one for v3.x.x. However, I did run across an article that said some settings may be hidden.

Press the ā€œAltā€ and ā€œF1ā€ keys to unlock the hidden settings on the AMI BIOS. If nothing happens, try pressing ā€œShiftā€ and ā€œF1ā€ or ā€œCtrlā€ and ā€œF1ā€ instead.

Worth a shot maybe?

Worth a try … let you know

thanks

Specifically, my understanding is that you want to change S5 to S0 in the bios in state after G3 to change the behaviour from ā€œStay off until button pressedā€ to ā€œPower on as power is restoredā€

As far as I know we don’t have publicly available resources on this but a support ticket asking for Gilberto and he has in depth instructions ready to share for advanced users who want this.

I was exited when I saw ā€˜K replying’!

I also forgot to welcome you to the group @dmcgee, so welcome, and congratulations on your ā€˜advanced user’ status!

I’m in the same boat with commissioning our Altmill and waiting for the Spindle. Has yours arrived yet? I haven’t received shipping notification from UPS, so I have to assume it hasn’t been sent out yet. Mid Dec. has come and gone and I know Sienci Labs will be shut down from the Dec. 24th - New Yeears. What are the chances it gets shipped before Christmas?
