I downloaded the update to gsender and am having problems. Should I be flashing to hal or leave it on GBL?
@krodav You may want to confirm with Sainsmart, but from what I can see, your controller is grbl, not grblHal. What have you been running before you did the update to the newest gSender?
What are the problems you are having?
My step Dad has a sainsmart 4040 pro and it is grbl not grblHAL so unless they upgraded it it’s grbl like @gwilki said.
Ok. That’s Gbl is what I have been running. Just thought maybe hal is what I was missing. I’m still having problems with the project not cutting at the size it was created. Can’t turn on soft limits because then it won’t jog. My console in gsender is constantly checking limits and stating ok even though I’m not running anything. Homing doesn’t work like it should. Looking to trade my brain for one that knows something.
@krodav
You seem to have several problems:
- your project is not cutting the size it was created
- if you turn on soft limits, you cannot jog your machine
- gSender is constantly checking limits when nothing is running
- homing doesn’t work
Clearly, some settings are messed up. Did you have all these problems before updating to 1.4.10?
Not being able to turn on soft limits has been a continual problem. The rest I believe were after the update. I was considering going back to default in gsender and starting over.

I don’t know if this will help. I do have a lot of stops that I did trying different settings and having to stop the machine.
@krodav I suggest that you open a support ticket with Sienci and included that file. They may not see it here.
FWIW, I would think that last thing you want to do is to flash your controller with the Long Mill controller firmware settings. If you need to flash your controller, you should get a file from Sainsmart to do it.
Thank you. I’m pretty sure it’s me but I’m completely confused now.
